What is the difference between Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations?

Level 1 Charging Stations: These are the most basic EV charging stations and are often found in residential settings. Level 1 charging stations use a standard 120-volt household outlet to charge an EV and can typically add about 5 miles of range per hour of charging.

Level 2 Charging Stations: Level 2 charging stations are more powerful than Level 1 stations and use a 240-volt outlet to charge an EV. They can add up to 35 miles of range per hour of charging, making them a popular choice for residential, commercial, and public charging locations.

DC Fast Charging Stations (also known as Level 3 Charging Stations): DC fast charging stations are the most powerful type of EV charging stations and can charge an EV in a matter of minutes. They use a high-voltage direct current (DC) to charge the battery and add up to 300 miles of range in less than an hour, depending on the charging station and vehicle capability. DC fast charging stations are typically found at public locations such as highway rest stops and shopping centers. DC chargers are not compatible in traditional residential environments.
